Shirley will help lots of lonely older people find love on a mountain retreat.
The Mirror reports that Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has revealed she will be hosting a ‘Love Island-style’ matchmaking show for the over-50s.
Matchmaker Mountain, which will be a segment on ITV’s This Morning, will see those in their 50s head off to a mountainous retreat with Shirley to try and find their perfect match.
She said in a clip from LA: “I’m joining This Morning and on a mission to help you find love! As a woman in my fifties – I know that the idea of dating later in life can be scary. But that’s where I can help! If you feel that love has left you marooned on an island of loneliness, get in touch and take part. I’ll help you climb to the heights of passion as you look for love on Matchmaker Mountain!”
At present little is known about the segment, and where the mountain retreat will take part, but the Love Island bug still seems to be catching as the new segment was announced.
This is the second in a recent spate of dating shows being launched, with the upcoming The Ultimate Matchmaker to launch on W, while ITV has just screen Our Shirley Valentine Summer.
Both of these dating shows are specific to a genre, however, with The Ultimate Matchmaker focusing on the helping “elite” daters find romance, similarly to The Millionaire Matchmaker in the USA, while The Shirley Valentine Summer was aimed at over 50s celebrities. Some of stars which features were Nancy Dell’Olio , Sian Lloyd and Melinda Messenger.
Matchmaker Mountain will air in January, with recruitment taking place at the moment to be filmed in September.
